A simple and quick Update guide for Xcloud customers.

Why this
Update guide?
As you may know, since the release of OS X Mountain Lion, unfortunately the OS X Server App is bound to the Apple ID used during the initial purchase. The same applies even for Volume License purchases, as we obtain it. For this reason, we’ve created this OS X Server Update guide for our Xcloud customers. By following this guide, you will be able to keep your OS X Server up-to-date, independently of us and our Apple ID.

Please note: This only applies to Server Updates, not to general OS X Updates.

…when you try to update the OS X Server within the Mac App Store.

As soon an OS X Server Update is available for your Xcloud Server, you will be notified by Mac App Store. As mentioned, you will not be able to update it directly within the App Store, as it is bound to our Apple ID. You will need to download it, by clicking on the following button. The downloaded Server App will be automatically extracted within your “Downloads” Folder.

OS X Server 2.2.5 for 10.8.x OS X Server 3.2.2 for 10.9.x macOS Server 5.2 for 10.11.6 and 10.12.x

Please note: You have to be logged in to your Xcloud to be able to download. This download-link is restricted to Xcloud customers only. Any other use or distribution to third parties is strictly prohibited.
Please close your current Server App (if open). Then, drag-and-drop the downloaded Server App to your Applications Folder and confirm the Copy-Message with “Replace”.

You can feel confident, as current Server Data and configuration settings will remain unchanged.
As soon the Server App replacement is completed the following Message will pop-up. This is a normal part of the update process. Just press the OK Button, and open the Server App in order to complete the setup of all previously configured services. And that’s it!
